The Fischer-Vroni festival tent at Oktoberfest

The Fischer-Vroni has been one of the most traditional institutions at Munich’s Oktoberfest for over 110 years. What began in 1904 as a small grilled fish stand run by Karl Winter has grown into one of the most distinctive large tents on the Theresienwiese. The tent is named after Winter’s wife, Veronika. Today, it is operated by the Stadtmüller family (Hans and Silvia Stadtmüller), who have stood for Bavarian hospitality and culinary quality for generations.

Unlike most other Oktoberfest tents, the Fischer-Vroni is known for a very special specialty: freshly grilled Steckerlfisch. Along a grill line over 15 meters long, mackerel, trout, and char are cooked on wooden sticks over an open fire. Another unique feature is the beer served here: Fischer-Vroni pours the popular Augustiner-Bräu from wooden barrels—a strong Oktoberfest beer with an alcohol content of around 6.3%.

The tent offers a total of about 3,848 seats (approximately 3,148 indoors and around 700 in the beer garden). The atmosphere is considered more cozy and traditional than in the very large party tents, yet it is still known for its lively mood. A special highlight takes place every year on the second Monday of Oktoberfest: the traditional “Rosa Montag” (Gay Prosecco Wiesn), which has made the tent famous far beyond Munich.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Fischer-Vroni

Everything you need to know about the Fischer Vroni tent at Oktoberfest

Official reservations for Oktoberfest 2026 are made exclusively through the online portal on the Fischer-Vroni's official website. Existing regular customers are usually contacted from the beginning of the year, while the allocation for new customers is typically released in spring (March/April). Note that reservations are usually only possible for tables of 8 or 10 and require the purchase of vouchers (beer and chicken).

The popular Augustiner-Bräu is served at Fischer-Vroni. A special feature of this tent is that the Oktoberfest beer is traditionally tapped from real wooden barrels (known as "Hirschen"). This gives the beer a particularly mild carbonation and a smooth taste. The price for a one-liter stein in 2026 is expected to be between €15.40 and €15.90.

The Steckerlfisch is Fischer-Vroni's culinary trademark. These are whole fish (usually mackerel, trout, or char) skewered on wooden sticks and grilled crispy over an open fire along a grill station stretching over 15 meters. The fish is priced by weight and is a must for any visitor looking for an alternative to the classic roast chicken.

The legendary Rosa Montag (also known as Gay Prosecco Wiesn) traditionally takes place on the second Monday of the Wiesn. On this day, Fischer-Vroni transforms into the central meeting point for the LGBTQ+ community at Oktoberfest. The atmosphere is considered one of the most exuberant of the entire festival week; arriving early is especially important on this day, as the tent often closes due to overcrowding already in the morning.

Fischer-Vroni is one of the medium-sized tents on the Theresienwiese and offers a total capacity of around 3,848 guests — approximately 3,148 seats indoors and about 700 seats in the outdoor beer garden.

The tent is located on Fischer-Vroni-Straße, directly near the main entrance to the Theresienwiese (on the side toward the Bavaria statue/entrance arch). The tent is recognizable from a distance by its large, distinctive ship-roof over the entrance and the aroma from the massive fish grilling facility.
