The Schützen Tent at Oktoberfest

Slightly off the main Wirtsbudenstraße lies the wonderfully cozy Schützen Festzelt, run by host couple Reinbold — featuring a wraparound interior gallery and the famous south-facing grand balcony, considered the most beautiful on the entire Wiesn, offering views of the Ferris wheel, the Bavaria statue, and the sunset.

What began as a small refreshment hut for marksmen on the Theresienwiese became the first Schützenhalle in 1876, and from 1926 onward the Schützenfestzelt — making it one of the oldest tents at the festival. Today it is far more than just a meeting point for shooting clubs: from Munich's youth to high society, everyone feels welcome here.

Food & Drink

Across the entire Wiesn, only the Schützen Festzelt brings this to the beer tables: the traditionally prepared suckling pig in malt beer, served with freshly grated potato dumplings and a warm bacon coleslaw. Those with a sweet tooth shouldn't miss the world-famous Franziskaner Kaiserschmarrn with rum raisins and plum compote. The beer served is Löwenbräu Oktoberfest beer — fresh, golden, and unmistakable.
