The Hacker Tent at Oktoberfest
The Hacker-Festzelt is one of the most well-known and popular beer tents at Munich’s Oktoberfest. It first opened in 1913 and has since become a staple of the Wiesn. Today, the tent is operated by the Schottenhamel family and the respective festival hosts, who offer a blend of tradition, hospitality, and modern Oktoberfest atmosphere.
A special feature of the Hacker Tent is its unique design: the ceiling is decorated as the “Bavarian Sky,” showing a blue sky with clouds and stars—a symbol of the tent’s distinctive atmosphere. Great emphasis is also placed on the beer: Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfestbier is served, a full-bodied Märzen with about 6.0% alcohol, known for its smooth and well-balanced taste.
The tent offers around 9,000 indoor seats, plus additional seating outdoors. It is considered one of the most vibrant tents at Oktoberfest, being relatively family-friendly and relaxed during the day, and transforming into one of the liveliest party spots in the evening. The Hacker Tent perfectly combines traditional Bavarian culture with modern festival spirit, attracting both locals and international guests alike.

Every year, Oktoberfest draws millions of visitors, all looking forward to a freshly poured Maß of beer. The Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfestbier, served in the Hacker Tent, is only available during Wiesn time—but that makes it taste especially good each year. Its amber-clear color, smooth malty aroma, and delicate bitterness with 13.7% original gravity give it its distinctive character.
